Describe an evening before comparing apps
You get home and want to open a particular channel. Later, someone else wants to continue a series. At the weekend, children should see only an approved selection. Those are three different tasks for the same IPTV player. A long feature list says little about whether these paths will work well for your household.
First write down three things: Who is watching? On which device? What should be easy to reach after opening the app? A viewer with a few live channels may need only a clear favourites list. A shared TV may call for separate personal areas. Anyone who wants to watch films while travelling also needs an explicitly supported offline option. Let these needs guide your comparison.
Your source sets the first firm limit
Check which details you already have. An M3U link points to a playlist. An Xtream login typically consists of a server address, username and password. An account for a closed streaming app is not automatically a login that another player can use. If you are unsure, ask the content provider which access method it supports.
TELOS accepts your own M3U links and Xtream logins; channels and content come from a source you are entitled to use. The M3U guide and Xtream guide explain the details. Changing players does not expand your channel package or increase the number of simultaneous streams your provider allows.
Also note what your source actually supplies: live channels only, films and series as well, separate programme data, or catch-up programmes. Extensive series management is not a key advantage for a simple live-channel list. In a household that watches several series, finding episodes already started may matter more than extra views.
Trial one: find a channel without help
On the device you plan to use, try the complete route: open the app, choose the source, find a familiar channel, start playback and return to the selection. On a TV, use the regular remote. An app that works well on a phone has not thereby proved that its TV controls are suitable. Google describes the remote and directional buttons as basic inputs on Android TV.
Look for specific obstacles: Can you tell which item is selected? Does Back take you to the expected screen? Can you distinguish similarly named channels by category? Can another person find a favourite without instructions? Note any difficulty right away. This compares the path to your programme, not the number of menu items.
Trial two: continue the same series tomorrow
For films and series, a watchlist, a favourite and Continue Watching serve different purposes. A watchlist saves a title for later. Continue Watching returns to content you have already started. A download actually stores data on the device. Test the feature your plans require with a title from your own source.
The TELOS Apple TV page describes favourites, a watchlist and Continue Watching. Personal profiles stay local to that Apple TV. Do not infer that series progress will automatically transfer to a phone. If switching devices matters, write down exactly what should move: access, activation, favourites, history or a saved file. The general word “sync” does not answer those separate questions.
Trial three: share the TV at home
For two adults with different tastes, the key question is whether personal selections and history stay separate. Children also make content access relevant. Check how to enter the children’s area and how to leave it. A PIN by itself does not explain which content is available.
TELOS describes personal areas under Profiles and child profiles (in German). Check their scope and permissions for your device version. For an age filter, you also need to know whether the provider supplies suitable age ratings. Multiple profiles do not create additional simultaneous streams: if someone wants to watch something else in the bedroom at the same time, your content provider must allow it.
Check availability before buying or setting up
Check the current TELOS platform status before buying a device. The availability status used here, dated 21 October 2026, lists official store routes for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Android phones and tablets. Compatible Fire TV devices have an Amazon route. Android TV and Google TV are in preparation; native Samsung and LG versions are under store review. No release date is confirmed.
These differences determine which trial you can do today. A developed or submitted TV build is not yet an installable store app. Successfully setting up an Android phone does not confirm a TELOS release for your Android TV box. Add the model, operating system and availability in the relevant store to your decision notes.
Check offline needs and ongoing costs separately
If you want to save a film before travelling, check the source, device, available storage and download requirements. TELOS downloads on iPhone and iPad require a suitable Xtream login and the provider proxy to be off; M3U does not support this route there. Apple TV uses temporary storage that tvOS may remove. The download overview (in German) explains the device differences. A full watchlist does not replace this preparation.
Then read the current purchase terms on your device: What can you try? Which playback or feature needs an unlock, and does it cover the device route you want? Keep app costs separate from the content subscription. For this decision, rely on the current purchase dialog rather than an older price in a comparison article.
Record a decision you can explain
- Mark the routes you need: opening live TV, continuing a series, using a children’s area or watching an offline film.
- Check your existing source and the officially available device version for each route.
- Try the routes with a few familiar titles and the controls you will actually use.
- Before paying, note open questions about extra data, simultaneous use and purchase terms.
This gives you a basis for choosing an app that fits your everyday life. This article offers decision guidance and documented product information. It does not contain a joint performance test of several players or a measured ranking.
Frequently asked questions
Which IPTV player suits a shared TV?
Check the remote controls, separate personal areas and how easily you can find channels or series again. For children, specific content permissions and PIN-protected exit are additional criteria.
Can I use the login from any streaming app?
Not automatically. Ask your provider whether it offers an M3U source or supported Xtream login for external players that you are entitled to use.
Do multiple profiles mean multiple simultaneous streams?
No. Profiles separate personal areas. Your content provider sets the permitted number of simultaneous streams.
Is TELOS already available in the Android TV store?
The platform status used here lists Android TV and Google TV as in preparation. The available Android app for phones and tablets does not confirm a TV-store release.
Is a watchlist enough to watch films offline?
No. The title must be fully downloaded for that. The device version, source and provider terms determine whether this is possible.
