TELOS from iPhone to TV: AirPlay or native app?

Send content from an iPhone to a compatible AirPlay receiver, or open TELOS directly on an Apple TV device. These routes have different requirements and are not the same as Google Cast.

TELOS from iPhone to TV: AirPlay or native app?

Choose where playback will happen first

You find a film on your phone and want to watch it on the big screen. There are two routes: the mobile app sends playback to a compatible receiver through AirPlay, or a separate TV app opens the source directly. The first route starts on the phone; the second starts on the TV device.

TELOS is available for iPhone and iPad and as a native Apple TV app. The official App Store listing gives current requirements: iOS or iPadOS 16.4 or later and tvOS 17 or later. The app contains no channels, films or content subscriptions. Connect your own lawful M3U or Xtream source.

When AirPlay is a good first try

AirPlay can suit you when you have already selected content on an iPhone or iPad and have a compatible receiver. Apple lists Apple TV and compatible smart TVs. Check the exact TV model: a Samsung or LG logo alone confirms neither AirPlay support nor a native TELOS app.

The Apple AirPlay guide explains how to put both devices on the same Wi-Fi, open a video and select a receiver from AirPlay. Enter any displayed code on the mobile device. The guide distinguishes video streaming from screen mirroring and notes that not every video app supports AirPlay.

The TV’s AirPlay capability and the playback route for the specific content must work together. A visible receiver is a starting point, not proof that every source will work. Test the content before relying on it for a shared viewing evening.

TELOS limitation: AirPlay depends on the player route

In TELOS, AirPlay selection is available for playback through the system player. Not every item opens through the same player route. With another route, the format or provider proxy may limit AirPlay output. Treat a disabled message differently from a TV missing from the receiver list.

Record which case occurs: the AirPlay button is disabled, the receiver is missing, or handoff fails after selection. Do not change the provider proxy on a guess. If your source needs that route, changing it may also affect normal playback. Another permitted item can be a useful comparison without re-entering access details.

A stream that works on the phone may not be available from the receiver in the same way. If handoff fails, note the content type, device, app version and visible message. This guide makes no unrestricted AirPlay promise for every source and is not based on our own receiver test.

Native Apple TV app for a regular TV setup

If several people regularly use the same TV, opening the app directly on an Apple TV device may be simpler. TELOS runs there as a separate tvOS app. Install it through the official store and set up your source using the Apple TV guide. This means Apple TV hardware connected to HDMI, not the Apple TV app built into a smart TV.

  1. Check the device, tvOS version and official app listing.
  2. Connect Xtream with the server and access details, or use the full M3U link.
  3. Follow the described phone activation; an activation code is not a channel source.
  4. Open familiar content, then check the remote route to favourites or Continue Watching.

Setting up the iPhone does not automatically transfer all personal data. Profiles remain local on Apple TV; history and downloads are not promised to sync. When switching, identify whether you want to move access, activation or personal selections.

Google Cast has its own requirements

An AirPlay receiver is not automatically a Google Cast receiver. Likewise, a Chromecast does not make every installed phone app Cast-enabled. Google’s Google TV streaming help requires a shared Wi-Fi network and a Chromecast-enabled app or supported browser.

This manufacturer guidance does not confirm Google Cast support in TELOS, so no TELOS Cast setup route is promised here. The available Android app for phones and tablets is not an Android TV release either; Android TV and Google TV are in preparation in the current TELOS status. Check the official download overview before buying extra hardware for this purpose.

Switching devices does not mean unlimited simultaneous viewing

Stop playback on the first device before opening the same provider access on another if only one simultaneous stream is permitted. More app installs or personal profiles do not raise the connection limit. Different programmes on two screens require permission from your source. The multiple-device guide separates profiles, registered devices and simultaneous use.

Saved content is also device-specific. Eligible iPhone and iPad downloads require Xtream and the provider proxy turned off; M3U downloads are unavailable there. Apple TV uses a removable cache for eligible direct files. The downloads overview (in German) explains the limits. A file on your phone is not a file stored on the TV.

Use three quick checks to choose the route

First test the same content on your phone. Then check whether AirPlay is available and the intended receiver appears. If you prefer the native app, test one playback there without a simultaneous phone stream. This shows which step works.

An empty programme guide is a separate issue: on iPhone and iPad, M3U supports suitable XMLTV data, while M3U catch-up is unavailable. The M3U guide explains the data route. For faults, record the devices and exact handoff step without sharing private URLs or passwords.

Frequently asked questions

Can I watch TELOS from my iPhone with AirPlay?

AirPlay is available for playback through the system player. You still need a compatible source and receiver; other player routes may limit output.

Do I need an Apple TV device for AirPlay?

Apple also lists compatible smart TVs as receivers. Check your exact model. AirPlay support does not promise a native TELOS app on that TV.

Why is the AirPlay button disabled?

The playback route may limit AirPlay, for example because of the provider proxy or format. Follow the message and do not change the proxy on a guess.

Is AirPlay the same as Google Cast?

No. They are different routes with different requirements. The linked Google help does not confirm Cast support in TELOS.

Will my iPhone history automatically appear on Apple TV?

Automatic transfer is not promised. Apple TV profiles stay local. Activation and personal-data sync are separate matters.

Can I watch on my phone and TV at once?

Only as allowed by your provider. Another app install or profile does not increase the permitted simultaneous streams.
