TELOS on Samsung and LG: plan your route to the TV

You want to watch your own channel and film selection on a Samsung or LG TV. The key is whether the app runs on the TV itself or a connected device. The native TELOS versions are still under store review.

TELOS on Samsung and LG: plan your route to the TV

Separate two routes to the same screen

At first glance, you see only the picture on your TV. But the app behind it may run on the smart TV itself or on a device connected by HDMI. Installation, updates and personal settings follow different routes in each case. Knowing the difference saves you from searching in the wrong store.

According to the platform status used here, the native TELOS versions for Samsung Tizen and LG webOS are still under store review. A public store release, a firm date and a final list of supported models have not been confirmed. The current TELOS download status is therefore the first place to check. A description of an app submitted for review does not mean you can install it today.

Identify your TV before changing anything

Note the full model name and software version from the settings. Also record the country where you use the TV and which devices are connected to its HDMI ports. You do not need to reset the TV or buy a new content source for this inventory.

On Samsung, a native app runs in the model’s Tizen environment; on LG, it runs in webOS. An Android app or Fire TV APK is not an installation package for either system. The Apple TV app that may already appear on your TV is also different from a standalone Apple TV device with tvOS and its own App Store.

What you can check in the native store today

Samsung’s app installation help describes the Smart Hub and Apps route. It requires an internet connection and Samsung account. The guide helps you find the right section, but does not confirm TELOS approval. Samsung also explains that an app missing there cannot simply be installed through another store such as Google Play.

LG refers to the LG Content Store or APPS menu; the exact route depends on the webOS version. LG’s app installation help lists network, country setting, device specifications and storage among the checks. This general guide also says nothing about whether a specific TELOS version is available.

If you cannot find TELOS, first check the published platform status. While store review is ongoing, there is no need to change regions at random or reset the TV. Wait for a confirmed store route, then check availability for your model. An app with a similar name is not a substitute for the correct publisher.

Prepare your existing access in advance

You can identify your source before native installation becomes available. Do you have a complete M3U link or an Xtream server address, username and password? Keep these details private. If anything is unclear, ask the content provider which access method it supports for external players. The password for its customer portal may not be the password for Xtream.

The submitted TELOS TV versions are intended for your own M3U and Xtream sources. The product pages for Samsung Tizen and LG webOS describe this status. TELOS does not provide channel packages, films or content subscriptions. Installing the app later will not create a catalogue if you do not have a lawful source to use.

Check an existing HDMI device as a separate route

If a Fire TV Stick is already connected, look for the app in that device’s Amazon Appstore. TELOS lists compatible Fire TV devices running Fire OS 6, 7 or 8; Vega OS, Fire OS 5 and Fire tablets are not supported. The Fire TV page links to the official store listing and explains the requirements. Check the exact model before assuming this route will work.

For an existing Apple TV device, use the tvOS App Store. TELOS lists tvOS 17 or later. The Apple TV page explains installation and setup. In both cases, the Samsung or LG TV is just the screen. This does not mean TELOS has been released natively for Samsung or LG.

If you own neither device, compare confirmed app routes with your needs before buying extra hardware. A connected Android TV box also has no confirmed TELOS store route at present: Android TV and Google TV are listed as in preparation in the status used here.

Choose a simple setup path for the household

An HDMI device means another input to select and possibly a second remote. With someone else, try the complete route: switch on the TV, choose the correct input, open the app and start a familiar channel. If your TV allows it, give the input a clear name in its menu. The important thing is that everyone can find the route again.

Personal selections and settings belong to the app version in use. Do not expect favourites or viewing history from a connected device to move automatically to a future native TV app. If you plan to switch, privately note the few channels you need and the type of source. This does not promise synchronisation, but makes a later setup easier to manage.

Features described for the native version

The product pages for the submitted Samsung and LG versions list personal profiles, favourites and Continue Watching. Child profiles with approved content and PIN protection are also planned. For your household, decide who needs a separate area and what content children should actually be allowed to see. Do not assume the provider supplies suitable age ratings.

Programme data and catch-up availability depend on the source. The described TV version does not provide its own programme guide content. Offline downloads are not planned on these native smart TV platforms. Do not apply download information for iPhone or Android phones to the TV. The product descriptions set the limit here; this article is not based on a compatibility test on your model.

Start small after a release is confirmed

  1. Check the official store link and availability for your exact TV model.
  2. Connect your own source and open a familiar channel.
  3. Try a film or episode if your access includes that content.
  4. Check available programme data, then set up personal favourites and profiles.

If you want to watch on a second device at the same time, the content provider’s connection limit still applies. Stop other playback for the first trial. If something fails, note the model, software version, source type and error message without sharing private links. That will help identify whether the next step concerns store availability, the source or playback.

Frequently asked questions

Is TELOS already available in the Samsung or LG store?

According to the platform status used here, the native Samsung Tizen and LG webOS versions are still under store review. A public store route and release date are not confirmed.

Can I install an Android APK on the TV instead?

An Android or Fire TV APK is not an installation package for Samsung Tizen or LG webOS. Use only the confirmed route for the relevant platform.

Can I use TELOS with an existing Fire TV Stick?

On a compatible Fire TV device running Fire OS 6, 7 or 8, the route is through the Amazon Appstore. Vega OS, Fire OS 5 and Fire tablets are not supported.

Is the Apple TV app on my Samsung or LG TV enough?

No. The TELOS route described here requires a standalone Apple TV device running tvOS 17 or later. The Apple TV app on the television does not replace that device.

Should I reset my TV if TELOS is missing from the store?

Check the official release status first. A reset cannot complete a pending store review and may erase settings.
